Once you are ready to move, or shortly thereafter, an important step is transferring your utilities to your new address. We have designed this section of our website as to help you with that process. The following list contains number and instructions to local utility companies such as electricity, gas, phone, cable, satellite, DSL, Internet, and more.
DMV Change of Address
If you’ve just moved to Idaho, you’ll need to take care of a few things with the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
To change your address on your Idaho DMV records you will need to complete an Idaho Change of Address Request (Form ITD 3239).
This will change your address on your DMV records only. If you’d like an updated ID driver’s license/ID card or registration, you’ll need to visit your local DMV office in person.
Driver’s License
If you have an out-of-state driver’s license, you’ll need to transfer it for an Idaho license within 90 days of moving to the state. If you have a commercial driver’s license (CDL), you will only have 30 days to transfer it over.
Car Registration
If you’re going to be living in Idaho for at least 90 days continually, you’ll need to register your out-of-state car with the ID DMV. This applies only if your ID address is your principal place of residence.If you move to a new address in Idaho, you must notify the ID DMV within 30 days of your move.

This online application will change your address at the post office and provide forwarding information for all your mail. (You even get some coupons!)
Internal Revenue Service Change of Address

This is a big one that many people don’t even think about. You can use Form 8822 to notify the Internal Revenue Service if you changed your home or business mailing address or location.

In addition the federal level, if you’re bringing a new business to Idaho (thank you!) then you’ll want to make sure you file the appropriate forms. We suggest getting in touch with an accountant, but if you want information on the process this link to the Idaho Tax Commission will serve well.

Last, but not least
In addition to changing your address with your utilities, you should also remember to do the same with your cell phones, credit cards, magazine subscriptions, financial institutions, and loan programs (auto loans, student loans, etc.) and any professional licenses you may have. In most cases, your most recent billing statement will have a section where you can fill in your change of address. Call the customer service number on the statement and let them know you have moved.
